A career employee of a College Station engineering company is accused of stealing more than $217,000 dollars.
56 year old Debra Sikes turned herself in to the Brazos County Jail Friday afternoon and was released in 56 minutes after posting a $20,000 bond.

The police department was contacted after Sikes’ replacement found accounting discrepancies.
Investigators continue to look into what happened when Sikes was employed between 1985 and 2003.
And Seaton says Sikes termination was a personnel issue that did not involve any illegal act.

On August 7th, the owner of McCord Engineering, Inc. reported to the College Station Police Department that a former employee had been embezzling money from his company.
The suspect in the case was identified as Debra Sikes, his former office manager, who had been employed with the company since it opened in 1985.
Sikes’ duties at MEI included all accounting responsibilities from payroll to accounts payable. Sikes had been terminated from the company for reasons not related to the theft and the new office manager had discovered the accounting discrepancies.
Further investigation revealed that since at least 2003 Sikes had used company funds to pay personal credit card accounts.
A thorough review of documents obtained as a result of several search warrants indicated that since July 2003 Sikes had misappropriated at least $217,011.39 from the company without the consent of the owner.
On October 26, 2012, at approximately 2:00 PM Sikes turned herself in at the Brazos County Jail where she was booked with a $20,000 bond.
