ANAHUAC, Texas (AP) _ A single-engine plane crashed in Chambers County today, killing all three people aboard.
Kay Ray, office manager of the Chambers County airport, says the plane crashed in an open pasture near Anahuac, about 30 miles east of Houston.
The plane went down about 3 p.m.
The plane had taken off from RWJ Airpark, a private airstrip in Beach City about 11 miles west of the crash site.
The Houston Chronicle reports the plane had been flying all day. A video camera was found near the wreckage.
A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board, Peter Knudson, said witnesses reported hearing an engine sputter before seeing the plane nosedive into the ground.
Knudson said the aircraft was an experimental model.
