Arrests Likely in Staged State School Fights

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) _ Corpus Christi police say arrests are pending of workers at a state school for the mentally disabled who allegedly organized after-hours fights by residents.

Meanwhile, Gov. Rick Perry’s chief of staff — Jay Kimbrough — on Wednesday visited the Corpus Christi State School. Perry has made reform of state schools an emergency issue in the 2009 Legislature.

The advocacy group — Community Now! — has called for the school’s immediate closure.

Capt. Tim Wilson says warrants are being prepared for at least some of the 11 staffers identified in about 20 fight videos found on a cell phone.
