AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Hundreds of law enforcement officers from Texas and around the country are expected to attend memorial and funeral services for an Austin police officer shot and killed in the line of duty.
Wednesday’s memorial service for 40-year-old Senior Officer Jaime Padron at Austin’s Shoreline Church will include a three-gun rifle salute and a flyover by police and rescue agencies. American flags will be presented to his two daughters, ages 10 and 6.
Burial is scheduled for later in the day in his native San Angelo.
Padron was shot April 6 in an Austin Walmart after responding to call about a man causing a disturbance. Suspect Brandon Montgomery Daniel, 24, has been charged with capital murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
