The College Station City Council, at its last meeting, approved staff recommendations proceeding with acquiring right of way to widen Rock Prairie Road between Longmire and the Earl Rudder Freeway.

Public Works Director Chuck Gilman says they’re after property on both sides of Rock Prairie Road.

The land will be purchased with money from a 2008 bond package.

This is in conjunction with the state’s plans to improve the Rock Prairie freeway interchange, which is is in the design phase. Construction won’t start until the summer of 2013.
