Second place went to Macy Boegner of St. Joseph, while Leah Anderson of St. Joseph picked up third place.

According to a news release issued by AANBV, “The theme for the poster contest is ‘Bring Our Missing Children Home.’ Students are asked to design and draw a poster that reflects the theme and complete an application describing the importance of the theme.”

Each state holding contests will send its overall winner to the national contest hosted by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The winner there will travel with their parents to Washington, D.C., to receive an award and take part in the national Missing Children’s Day ceremony on May 25.

The local contest was judged in conjunction with National Amber Alert Awareness Day. The term Amber Alert is named for Amber Hagerman, a nine-year-old girl who was abducted and killed in Arlington, TX, in 1996.
