Gunplay appears to be behind the accidental shooting death of a woman on New Year’s Day.
Whitney Pullen was shot one time Sunday afternoon while at her boyfriend’s home on Cain Road in College Station.
According to court documents, the accused shooter, Kenneth Wayne Conner walked from a bedroom closet into the bedroom while playing with a loaded 9 mm pistol.
Conner, who said he did not know the gun was loaded, allegedly pointed the gun at Pullen and fired one time.
Pullen, 21, was lying on the bed with her boyfriend at the time. Her boyfriend told police he immediately called 911 while Conner panicked and fled the scene.
The boyfriend also told police the three of them had just smoked some marijuana right before the shooting.
Conner, 22, was later picked up along Cain Road and is charged with criminally negiligent homicide. He remains in Brazos County Jail on $100,000 bond.
