Dallas Baby Dies After Being Left in Car

DALLAS (AP) _ A 7-month-old girl is dead after she was left for as long as four hours in a car parked in the sun in a southwest Dallas driveway.

Police Lt. Andy Harvey says a friend told investigators she had taken the child’s mother to work Thursday morning and was to have taken the child to a daycare center.

The friend went on to make other stops, though, and forgot to deliver the child. She returned to the home and left the child in the car by mistake with the windows rolled up.

A neighbor discovered the unconscious baby in the car about 1:30 p.m. and called authorities. The child was taken to Methodist Charlton Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

No charges have been filed. The child’s identity wasn’t immediately released.
