Obama Hosts Williamson County Family

DALLAS (AP) _ Shannon Kendall’s mother says her daughter is “tickled” to be one of the guests of first lady Michelle Obama for President Barack Obama’s address to a joint session of
Congress.

Sharon Schultz of Albuquerque, N.M., says she was in the car with her daughter when she got a call Sunday from the White House inviting her to be Mrs. Obama’s guest.

Schultz said White House officials called saying, “sorry for the late notice but Mrs. Obama would like for you to be her guest.” Her daughter hung up the phone saying she couldn’t believe they called

Shannon Kendall, of Georgetown, Texas, heads up the Family Readiness Group for her Army husband’s Fort Hood-based unit.

Schultz said Maj. Ryan Kendall, who had just returned in January from a 15-month deployment to Iraq, was with his wife in Washington.

Schultz said she planned to watch the speech with her son, Sean Curry, and his children. And she was baby-sitting her daughter and son-in-law’s 19-month-old son, Aidan.
