College Station Power Outage Thursday Morning

College Station businesses and some residents experienced a power outage lasting nearly four hours Thursday morning.

The affected area was west of the freeway and north of University, between 5:40 and 9:20 a.m. Thursday.

Timothy Crabb with College Station Utilities says power was rerouted around failed equipment in a feeder line that has yet to be replaced.

Crabb says there will be another outage to make the replacement, and affected customers will be notified in advance.

Crabb says the length of time to do repairs is one of the tradeoffs of having underground power lines.

It’s the second power outage in College Station in the last six days.  Last Friday, portions of the Emerald Forest housing subdivision also lost power due to a failure in underground lines.
