Blair and company headed to Hollywood for ESPYS

Texas A&M women’s basketball head coach Gary Blair and members of the 2011 NCAA National Championship team are in for a treat this week.

Blair, Adaora Elonu, Sydney Carter and Maryann Baker will walk the red carpet with top celebrities from sports and entertainment and attend the ESPYs on Wednesday, July 13 at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The ESPYs, short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, commemorate the past year in athletics by recognizing major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances.

The Aggies are nominated for the award of Best Team following their first national championship in program history in their first-ever trip to the NCAA Women’s Final Four.

The ESPYs are broadcast live at 8 p.m. (CT) Wednesday on ESPN/ESPNHD .

“You live for times like this when you walk down the red carpet with the likes of Serena Williams or Dirk Nowitzki or any of the great individuals and teams that have been nominated for the ESPYs,” said Blair. “And it’s a thrill of a lifetime for our student-athletes. Hopefully this is just the start of something bigger at Texas A&M.”

On Thursday, July 14, Tyra White and Danielle Adams are privileged to be the Co-Honorees for Female Collegiate Athlete of the Year at the 39th Annual SPORTKC PROPS (Party Recognizing Outstanding People of Sports).

White will be accepting the award in person on Thursday at the Midland Theatre in downtown Kansas City.

The KC PROPS Award Ceremony is hosted by the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation which attracts, promotes, and manages sports at every level for the Greater Kansas City community.
