Man Held in El Paso Teens’ Roadside Deaths

EL PASO, Texas (AP) _ El Paso police say a man has been arrested on two counts of intoxication manslaughter after two teens were killed while helping a friend whose car had broken down on the side of the road.

Police say John Cervoni and Aaron Carrillo, both 16, were killed. Mark Dobbs, the 17-year-old friend they were helping, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Hector Tellez was driving on the shoulder of the road Friday night when he hit Dobbs’ vehicle, which then struck the vehicle Cervoni and Carrillo arrived in.

Police said Sunday that 32-year-old Tellez was booked into El Paso County Jail on Saturday night after being released from the hospital. Tellez remained in jail Sunday on bonds totaling $100,000.
