AMC and Rudder winner in baseball playoffs

High school baseball playoff started last night quite well for A&M Consolidated and Rudder but not so good for the Bryan Vikings. In the first of a best-of-three first round series, 3rd ranked Consol shutout DeSoto 7-0 on the road. Seth Holbert threw the shutout giving up 6 hits while Consol scored seven runs on just 9 hits. Josh Schulman, Colby Turton, Jacob Garcia, David Wright and Greg Davios each got two hits. Consol goes to 26-4. Game 2 is tonight at 7 at Tiger Field. If DeSoto wins they go back to DeSoto at Noon Saturday.

Rudder Rangers beat Red Oak 9-5 at Rudder. Blake Kopetski got the pitching win as Rudder will try to advance with a win in Game 2 in red Oak tomorrow at 2.

 

Bryan Vikings fell 1-0 to Mesquite at Viking Field. The lone run was scored on a disputed interference call when a Mesquite base runner was awarded third and home after he  came in contact with Viking third baseman Colin Fry on his way to third.

 

Travis Gibson took the tough loss for the Vikes. The must-win Game two for the Vikes will be tomorrow in Mesuite at 2, with a third game to follow if needed.

The Bryan softball team won the first game of their area round series with Garland  1-0 in Waco. Emily Pierce threw the shutout d reagan Boenker got the RBI single in the top of the first that held up. Game two is tonight at 6 at the SW Little League Park in Waco.
