Two of College Station’s upcoming city council openings have become contested races.
Thursday was the second time in as many days there’s been two filings for separate seats.
Julie Schultz filed for the place 5 position now held by Jana McMillan. Schultz, who owns a local engineering company, is opposed by Sherry Ellison.
Also filing Thursday was Shawn Rhodes, who works for a local healthcare consulting firm. Rhodes filed for place 1 on the council and is opposed by Blinn College professor Blanche Brick.
There’s one uncontested race, where Karl Mooney is the only one pursuing place three. A reminder there’s no geographical boundary for any city or school board opening in College Station. The last day to file is the 14th, which is a week from Monday.
