Producers Cooperative Association recently presented a check for $5,000 to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. The funds include a $2,500 donation from Producers and a matching gift of $2,500 from Land O’ Lakes. The funds will be used to help the BVFB reach their goal of ending hunger in the Brazos Valley. “Supporting the Brazos Valley Food Bank is a natural fit for Producers. Update: 09/08/2026: The College Station Police Department reported today that they received reports on Saturday that someone had been shot, and was allegedly seen running through the district, but a victim was unable to be located. They say now that a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand spoke with investigators on Sunday. Investigators say that the victim was acquainted with the suspect and traveled to College Station together. Update 09/07/2026: The bond amounts for all charges have been set. Wheeler is now being held on $145,000 bond. A teenager is behind bars after accidental discharge of a firearm Saturday night at a Northgate bar. College Station Police on patrol in Northgate heard a shot come from the One15 club in the 100 block of College Main. 19-year-old Trey Lamar Wheeler, of Tyler, was located inside the club with a gun in his waistband. Reports say he had a second firearm that was misplaced inside the club prior to the shot being fired. The second firearm was eventually located and seized. Wheeler was charged with Public Intoxication, 2 counts of Unlawful Carry of a Weapon, 2 Counts of Unlawful Carry of a Weapon in a Prohibited Place, Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm, Disorderly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm, and Failure to Identify Giving False/Fictitious Information. He is currently jailed on $20,000 bond. Bond has not yet been set on three of the eight charges. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available. The Bryan City Council held a regularly scheduled council meeting Tuesday night. The pressing item of the night was setting the tax rate. The proposed rate going into the meeting was $0.624000 per $100 of a home’s value. Mayor Bobby Gutierrez asked Alicia Kenney, the Interim Chief Financial Officer at City of Bryan, what the absolute lowest rate that could be adopted without negatively affecting services or the city’s bond rating. Kenney said that amount would be $0.623500. The mayor motioned for that to be the adopted rate, and while he received a second, the motion failed. The $0.0005 difference between the tax rates would amount to $1.25/year for a homeowner whose home is valued at $250,000. No one signed up to speak for the public hearing on the tax rate. The rate of $0.624000 was approved. Council also adopted the FY2027 budget of $569,013,800. Three rezoning items were approved: 600 Woodson Drive (2.21 acres of vacant land adjoining the north side of Woodson Drive between College Main and Oaklawn Streets). Amend the previously-approved Planned Development District to revise the concept drawings and physical development standards. 1.05 acres of vacant land at the southwest corner of Tabor Road and Siegert Drive, being Lots 6 through 8 in Block 2 of the Siegert Subdivision. Change the zoning classification from Residential District to Multi-Family Residential. 2.208 acres of land out of the Maria Kegan Survey, Abstract No. 28, adjoining the northeast side of State Highway 30, 850 feet to 1,080 feet southeast of its intersection with G.
