Blinn Vocational Nursing Graduates Achieve 100% First-Time NCLEX Pass Rate

Congratulations to Blinn and all 24 of this year’s Vocational Nursing Program (VOCN) graduates. All passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) on their first attempt.

The group includes 17 students who graduated in June and seven who graduated in August.

“This achievement demonstrates the strength of Blinn College’s Vocational Nursing Program and the exceptional preparation our students receive,” said Dr. Michelle Marburger, Director of the Vocational Nursing Program. “Our graduates have worked tirelessly to reach this milestone, and their success reinforces the vital role vocational nurses play in meeting healthcare needs across Texas.

“Earning a 100% first-time pass rate is a testament to the quality of instruction, dedication of the students, invaluable hands-on clinical experiences, and the determination of our graduates to provide safe, compassionate patient care.”

The graduates who passed the NCLEX-PN are Elida Arreola, College Station; Jayden Blount, Taylor; Skylar Buth, Industry; Alma Crispin Vergara, College Station; Chloe Dumas, Beaumont; Breanna Fonseca, College Station; Mary Hayden, Caldwell; Morgan Heathcott, Brenham; Lauren Hernandez, Giddings; Jaeden Kuck, Danbury; Emily Lewis, Mont Belvieu; Angela Lopez, Houston; Elizabeth Miller, College Station; Emily Oldham, Magnolia; Holly Oldham, Hempstead; Brooke Olszewski, Houston; Wendy Orocio, Giddings; Megan Santizo, Sugarland; Tatum Self, Iola; Chelsea Soanes, Navasota; Hayden Splawn, La Grange; Lola Warren, Portsmouth, Va.; Sophia Willis, Iola; and Haylee Wood, Bastrop.

Program graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN and the Nursing Jurisprudence Examination. After successfully completing both examinations and meeting state requirements, they are eligible for licensure as vocational nurses.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, the 2024 annual median pay for a vocational nurse was $62,340.

Applications for the spring 2027 cohort will open Thursday, September 17, 2026. The Blinn College District VOCN Program is a 10- to 11-month course of study offered on the Brenham Campus, providing the education and training needed to become a highly skilled, licensed vocational nurse capable of working in a variety of medical settings. No prerequisite courses are required. The program consists of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences in the acute care setting and other healthcare facilities in Brenham and the surrounding area.
