TxDOT Announces Latest Big 6 Construction Updates August 3-7, 2026

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced the latest in detours and closures associated with the “Big 6” Construction project:

Monday, August 3

  • Northbound and Southbound mainlane between Harvey Road and Rock Prairie Road – Single-lane Closures – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound mainlane left lane will be closed between Rock Prairie Road and Southwest Parkway for dirt work in the center median.
    • The southbound mainlane left lane will be closed between Harvey Road and Texas Avenue for dirt work in the center median.

Tuesday, August 4

  • Northbound mainlane between Harvey Mitchell Parkway and University Drive – Full Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • All traffic must exit through the northbound Southwest Parkway exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just south of University Drive. Additionally, the northbound entrance ramps just south of Harvey Mitchell Parkway, Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road will be closed.
  • Southbound mainlane between Harvey Road and Texas Avenue – Single-lane Closures – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The southbound mainlane left lane will be closed for dirt work in the center median.

Wednesday, August 5

  • Southbound frontage road left turn lane at Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection – Single-lane DAYTIME closure – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • The southbound frontage road left turn lane at the intersection to install an underground structure. Traffic may continue on the southbound frontage road using the second left turn lane.
  • Northbound mainlane between Rock Prairie Road and Southwest Parkway – Single-lane Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound mainlane left lane will be closed for dirt work in the center median.
  • Southbound mainlanes between University Drive and Harvey Mitchell Parkway – Full Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
    • All traffic must exit through the southbound Harvey Road exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Additionally, the southbound entrance ramps just north of University Drive, Havery Road, and Southwest Parkway will be closed.

Thursday, August 6

  • Southbound frontage road right turn lane at Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection – Single-lane DAYTIME closure – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • The southbound frontage road right turn lane at the intersection to install an underground structure. Traffic may continue on the southbound frontage road using the second right turn lane.
  • Northbound and Southbound mainlane between Harvey Road and Rock Prairie Road – Single-lane Closures – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound mainlane left lane will be closed between Rock Prairie Road and Southwest Parkway for dirt work in the center median.
    • The southbound mainlane left lane will be closed between Harvey Road and Texas Avenue for dirt work in the center median.
  • Northbound Texas Avenue – Exit Ramp Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for paving operations. Northbound traffic can access Texas Avenue by turning left on Southwest Parkway.

Friday, August 7

  • Southbound frontage road right turn lane at Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection – Single-lane DAYTIME closure – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • The southbound frontage road right turn lane at the intersection to install an underground structure. Traffic may continue on the southbound frontage road using the second right turn lane.
  • Northbound and Southbound mainlane between Harvey Road and Rock Prairie Road – Single-lane Closures – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound mainlane left lane will be closed between Rock Prairie Road and Southwest Parkway for dirt work in the center median.
    • The southbound mainlane left lane will be closed between Harvey Road and Texas Avenue for dirt work in the center median.
  • Northbound Texas Avenue – Exit Ramp Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for paving operations. Northbound traffic can access Texas Avenue by turning left on Southwest Parkway.
