Texas A&M Men’s Golf Leads Bryan Regional after Round One

News release from Texas A&M Athletics: 

The host Texas A&M Aggies raced out to an early lead at the NCAA Men’s Golf Bryan Regional at Traditions Club Monday afternoon.

The Maroon & White fired a 12-under 276 on the first loop around the par-72, 7,270-yard course. The Aggies are followed by North Carolina (-10), TCU (-8), Texas (-7) and Tennessee (-6) on the 14-team leaderboard. The top five teams advance to the NCAA Championship.

Wheaton Ennis is the individual leader following the first circuit. He posted a 6-under 66. He registered six birdies and one eagle. He starts the second round one stroke ahead of North Carolina’s Carson Bertagnole (-5) and Texas’s Luke Potter (-5).

Aaron Pounds is tied for fourth place at 4-under 68. His day was highlighted by five birdies, including three in his final six holes.

Kris Kuvaas also cleared par, posting a 2-under 70. The solid opening round put him in a logjam of 10 golfers tied for 10th place.

Jaime Montojo and Shiv Parmar shot even 72, putting the pair in a tie with 10 others for 24th place.

The Aggies start Tuesday’s action at 7 a.m., teeing off from No. 1. The Aggies will be paired with North Carolina and Texas.
