Bryan ISD School Board Taking Correcting Action Following An Intruder Detection Audit

Bryan ISD school board members during Monday night’s meeting (March 23) were scheduled to discuss in private an undisclosed failure in its latest inspection of protecting school buildings. No details were provided in public before or after the board’s executive session regarding an intruder detection audit and a corrective action plan. In public, board member Tim Pavlas summarized this month’s meeting of the safety and security committee that was led by BISD’s assistant security director Rich Himmel and was attended by 14 central office administrators. Houston Man Is Arrested By College Station Police On 42 Warrants From Kentucky And Indiana

A Houston man wanted by law enforcement in Kentucky and Indiana on a total of 42 warrants is arrested by College Station police. A CSPD spokesman says they were notified by outside agencies that the 24 year old man was at a local new car dealership delivering parts. Jahsii Halse is being held on 36 warrants from Kentucky. One warrant is for engaging in engaging in organized criminal activity, 17 warrant is for taking parts from vehicles with a value of between $1,000 and $10,000 dollars, and 18 warrants are for criminal mischief. Six warrants from Indiana are two for conspiracy to commit theft, two for criminal mischief, and two for unauthorized entry. As of March 25, Halse remains held in the Brazos County jail. No bonds have been set.

There Will Still Be A Primary Runoff For The Republican Nominee For Brazos County Commission Precinct 2

After three days to manually recount more than 6,700 ballots in the contested Republican primary for Brazos County precinct two commission, there is no change in the numbers. The recount that began last Friday and ended Tuesday (March 24) afternoon still left Kyle Greenwood ten votes shy of reaching a majority. Greenwood, with 49.87 percent of the primary vote, faces a May 26th runoff against Jordan Januse, who received just over 34 percent of the primary vote. Elections administrator Trudy Hancock said the cost of the recount was $1,684 dollars. $1,344 was for the counting team and $340 was for copies. Greenwood paid a $2,900 dollar deposit at the time he requested the recount. Greenwood posted on his campaign Facebook page “This week’s hand recount was an important step in ensuring every vote was counted accurately by the machines, especially in a race decided by such a narrow margin. I want to sincerely thank Brazos County Elections Administrator Trudy Hancock and her team for their time, professionalism, and commitment to a thorough and transparent process. These efforts require long hours and careful attention to detail, and our community benefits from their dedication. Thank you as well to the volunteers, observers, and election workers who participated. Fair and accurate elections depend on the work of many, and that responsibility matters.”
