St. Patrick’s Day for members of Texas A&M’s corps of cadets includes a briefing about how to respond to active shooter incidents.

That’s part of a letter the commandant of the corps posted on his Facebook page.

James Bierman announced additional security measures following last week’s attack on Army ROTC students at Old Dominion University.

The retired Marine general considered the attack as “intentional and symbolic” and described the group of ROTC cadets who subdued and killed the gunman as “courageous”.

Bierman said the scheduled routine of the Aggie cadets will not vary. But the corps will be watched by university police (UPD) during all formations and selected activities. And UPD has increased patrols around Corps buildings and facilities.
