Owners of short term rental properties get a request from College Station police to be more selective with who they make reservations.

That follows gunfire outside an Airbnb home Sunday (March 15) just after midnight in the neighborhood behind Jones Crossing shopping center.

A CSPD spokesman tells WTAW News that no one was hit and nothing was struck by the gunfire.

A 16 year old was arrested outside the home on Pintail Loop for having a handgun that was modified to become a fully automatic weapon that was loaded with 50 rounds.

The young man was also held on a warrant for evading arrest.

CSPD officers also arrested an 18 year old on a warrant for not having vehicle insurance and a 17 year old for not wearing a seat belt.

CSPD’s checklist for short term rentals includes owners selecting guests with verified positive reviews, set clear “no party” rules and enforce guest limits, require security deposits, share your contact information with neighbors should issues arise, avoid last minute or one night weekend bookings from local accounts and use exterior cameras and noise monitoring devices.
