The No. 11 Texas A&M softball team wrapped up the Aggie Classic with an 8-2 win over Providence on Sunday morning at Davis Diamond.
Providence (1-4) hit a two-out solo home run in the opening stanza before Aggie starter Taylor Pannell settled in, striking out five batters across 3.1 innings. Texas A&M (4-1) scratched the board in the bottom of the third when a wild pitch allowed Kennedy Powell to score.
The Aggies continued to produce in the third inning as Ariel Kowalewski and Piper White crossed the plate on Tallen Edwards’ single. KK Dement capped the inning with an RBI to give Texas A&M a 4-1 lead.
The Maroon & White added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, including Mya Perez’s lone RBI of the day. Providence pushed across a run in the top of the fifth to make it 7-2.
Micaela Wark homered in the bottom of the sixth and Sidne Peters held the Friars scoreless over the final two innings to seal the win.
