A verbal dispute south of Millican last weekend over one person hitting golf balls towards a neighbor’s property resulted in gunfire.

On Monday (January 12), the day after the argument, the person hitting golf balls is arrested for firing her shotgun at the neighbor.

The Brazos County sheriff’s office arrest report says the victim was in fear for his life and believed he was going to die.

The woman who fired the shot told a deputy the ammunition was only bird shot and it would not kill him.

63 year old Melissa Carey was taken to jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As of January 13th, Carey remained held in lieu of a $50,000 dollar bond.
