A DPS trooper stopping a vehicle for expired registration leads to the driver’s arrest for possessing 30 pounds of marijuana. This happened the night of Christmas Eve on Interstate 45 in Leon County. A DPS spokesman says a K-9 unit from Leon County assisted in finding the marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle. The only information about the driver is that it was a woman with an Oklahoma driver’s license.

A video posted Tuesday (December 30) on the Facebook page of the Texas department of public safety’s southeast region, which includes Brazos and most surrounding counties, showed a traffic stop west of Hempstead that led to the capture of a man wanted for thefts in Brenham and in Harris and Galveston counties. The capture took place December 30th after Brenham police was notified of a theft at a clothing store. A DPS investigator spotted the getaway vehicle and troopers stopped the suspect. All of the stolen merchandise was recovered.
