Recovery Continues For Aggieland Victim Of The Hanukkah Terrorist Shooting In Australia

The recovery continues for the Aggieland victim of the Hanukkah terrorist shooting in Australia. That’s according to X/Twitter posts from the father of Leibel Lazaroff. Yossi Lazaroff, who leads the Texas A&M Jewish center, posted on his @AggieRabbi account on New Year’s Eve that his son had his eighth surgery and is scheduled for his ninth on Friday (January 2). In between surgeries, Yossi posted a video of his son walking outside his hospital room for the first time in the two weeks after he was shot on Bondi Beach in Sydney. Another video showed Leibel playing the keyboard while others sang in his hospital room. 17 Year Old Arrested For Possessing Stolen Property From Vehicle Burglaries In A West Bryan Neighborhood

Bryan police announce an arrest of a 17 year old for possessing property that was stolen from vehicle burglaries in a residential neighborhood east of the Brazos County Expo off of Jones Road. The BPD arrest report says an undercover officer saw during the midnight hour on New Year’s Eve in the Alamosa Springs subdivision, a man walking a dog who matched the descriptions given by witnesses and surveillance video that was seen pulling on vehicle door handles. Five uniformed officers, a sergeant, and a drone were also involved in tracking then stopping the suspect after he was seen walking in the middle of Jones Road in violation of traffic laws. The arrest report says Tameron Ballard told officers he was “being dumb” for stealing cash and a pair of sunglasses. Ballard is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $2,125 dollars on charges of misdemeanor theft and a minor in possession of tobacco. After the arrest, BPD issued a news release saying a search of Ballard’s person and vehicle led to the discovery of additional stolen property linking him to other crimes committed in the area. During that period, BPD daily activity reports showed five vehicle burglary reports in Alamosa Springs, four in other parts of town, and seven burglaries of homes or buildings around the city. The news release says anyone with information related to these crimes is asked to call BPD at (979) 209-5300. News release from the Bryan police department: On December 31, 2025, officers were conducting surveillance in the Alamosa Springs Subdivision, located near Jones Road and Paseo Place. Between December 24 and December 29, five burglaries of motor vehicles were reported in this area. During the investigation, a suspect was captured on video footage committing the crimes. While conducting surveillance at approximately 12:24 a.m., an officer observed a suspicious person walking into the Alamosa Springs Subdivision who matched the physical characteristics and clothing description of the suspect previously captured on video burglarizing vehicles. The subject was stopped and contacted in the 5200 block of Jones Road and was identified as Tameron Ballard, a white male, 17 years old. Ballard confessed to committing burglaries in the area and was still in possession of stolen property. A search of Ballard’s person and vehicle led to the discovery of additional stolen property linking him to other crimes committed in the area. Ballard was arrested for Minor in Possession of Tobacco and Theft of Property ($100–$750). He was transported and booked into the Brazos County Jail. The investigation into the motor vehicle burglaries in the Alamosa Springs Subdivision remains active. Texas A&M’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan Nearing Completion

One initiative at Texas A&M established by former president Mark Welsh that did not go away, is planning for university needs through the year 2040. Interim president Tommy Williams has announced nine committees are delivering reports to a nine member executive body that in 2026 will compose what is described as A&M’s next comprehensive plan. The nine committees, composed of hundreds of faculty, staff, students, former students and other stakeholders, focused on academics, student life and engagement, university and community relationships, resources and operational infrastructure, university working environment and ecosystem, health and clinical enterprise, employer and state/national needs, research, scholarship, and creative work, and the ONE committee, which is tasked to move the university forward together for the greater good.
