Five criminal cases in Brazos County district court involving a Hearne man were disposed of on Wednesday (December 17).

33 year old Jalen Bloom admitted to the September 2022 murders of a College Station man and an Austin woman whose bodies were found in their vehicle that crashed south of Highway 21 and east of Highway 47. Bloom was sentenced to two life terms in prison for shooting the couple.

Online court records show a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office dismissed felony charges of injuring a toddler aged child who was also in the vehicle with the murder victims and two counts of evidence tampering associated with the murders.

Charges were also dismissed from four other criminal cases that were not related to the murders, totaling seven felonies and one misdemeanor. Those cases were:

  • Felony criminal mischief and felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle that took place the day after the murders.
  • Misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance that took place the day after the murders.
  • Felony burglary of a building that took place the day after the murders.
  • And in August 2021, felony charges of DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle, evading arrest with prior convictions, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Online court records show a co-defendant associated with the murders remains in jail while awaiting her trial on armed robbery charges.

News release from the Brazos County district attorney’s office:

On December 17, 2025, Jalen Bloom pled guilty to two counts of Murder and was sentenced to Life in prison in each count.

On September 4, 2022, two individuals called 911 to report what they believed to be a major crash on Silver Hill Road. The involved vehicle appeared to have run off the road and crashed into a tree. Inside the vehicle, they observed two unconscious adults and a toddler, who was conscious. All three were covered in blood. The individuals who called 911 attempted to perform CPR on the unconscious individuals and rendered aid to the toddler.

When paramedics with the Bryan Fire Department responded to the scene, they discovered that the two individuals were deceased as a result of gunshot wounds. The toddler was transported to the hospital, where she was treated for multiple injuries to her face and body.

Officers and detectives with the Bryan Police Department also responded to the scene of the murder and began investigating. In processing the scene, officers observed multiple bullet holes in the vehicle and recovered a number of shell casings from the scene.

Notably, neither of the victims’ cell phones were located inside the vehicle. Law enforcement successfully tracked one of the cell phones to a dumpster, where both missing phones were ultimately recovered. Both phones had been bent and broken before being discarded.

The victims were identified as Theron Daniel, 24, and Sabrina Lombardini Garcia, 25. Their autopsies revealed that each had died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were parents to young children at the time of their deaths.

Based on the last communications on the victims’ phones, police were able to identify Jalen Bloom as a suspect in the murder. Detectives discovered that Bloom had been arrested by the College Station Police Department in the early hours of September 5, 2022 after he crashed a vehicle into a local business.

Investigators reviewed traffic camera footage, which showed the same vehicle being driven to and from the scene of the murder and the dumpster where the cell phones were recovered on the evening of September 4th. Through cell phone records and geolocation data, investigators were also able to specifically place Bloom near both locations at the time of the murders.

Statement from Brazos County assistant district attorneys Jessica Escue, Tiffany Larsen, and Ryan Golden: “The defendant’s choice to senselessly take the lives of two young parents is deserving of this harsh punishment. While nothing can bring back what he has taken, we hope that this sentence provides some measure of comfort to the victims’ families.”
