Bryan police and other first responders were tied up Wednesday morning (December 17) for two hours, dealing with five crashes on or along the freeway between Briarcrest Drive and William Joel Bryan Parkway.

A total of 13 vehicles were involved at three locations. A BPD spokesman says no one was injured from the collisions.

Two of crashes were on the Briarcrest bridge over the freeway. While officers were investigating a hit and run, in the backed up traffic a pickup pulling a trailer rear ended a car. BPD is still looking for the hit and run driver.

Around the same time as Briarcrest bridge collisions, a Brazos Transit District bus on Briarcrest at the freeway rear ended a car that rear ended a second car that rear ended a third car. One of the car drivers who already had a broken leg was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

In the same time frame, officers were dealing with a stalled vehicle on the freeway southbound near WJB. The traffic backup from the stalled car led to two crashes. The driver of a septic truck who took evasive action flipped in the median. And four vehicles were caught in another collision because the first driver did not stop in time in the backup.
