Motorists on the Aggie Expressway Thursday (October 2) were the first to see the official designation of a portion of Highway 249 as approved during this year’s legislative session.
The lieutenant governor and a member of the Texas Transportation Commission were among those uncovering the sign naming the stretch from Highway 105 to FM 1774 for Doug Pitcock Jr., a 1949 Aggie engineering graduate who founded a construction company.
A Texas department of transportation spokesman says Pitcock “played a pivotal role in shaping Texas’s modern highway system.”
