Brazos County commissioners approve a sheriff’s office request to apply for $500,000 dollars from a state grant that was created two years ago by the state legislature.
Chief deputy of corrections Kevin Stuart told commissioners the money would not go towards additional positions because there is no guarantee the state will renew what is a one year grant.
Stuart says the grant money, which can go to counties with a population of up to 300,000 would go towards vehicles and firearms.
