38 year old Deacon Jones and the Brazos County district attorney’s office reached a plea agreement that includes a 40 year prison sentence.
Jones admitted to assaulting the same woman in November and December of 2023.
He was on parole at the time of his last arrest for burglary of a habitation and drug possession that took place in January 2012.
Before that, Jones served time for two domestic violence assaults that happened in 2009.

On May 12, 2025, Deacon Jones pled guilty to multiple Assault Family Violence with a prior conviction and Assault Family Violence Strangulation with a prior conviction. To both of these charges the defendant was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
On November 10, 2023, officers with the Bryan Police Department responded to a call of an assault. Once on scene, officers contacted the victim, who reported that her boyfriend of two years, Deacon Jones, had punched her and strangled her the previous night. The victim also reported that Jones had taken her phone, which left her unable to call for help until he left the residence that morning, at which time she ran to a neighbor’s house to borrow a phone.
Officers saw bruising to the victim’s face, dried blood around her mouth and nose, and scratch marks to her neck, which were consistent with her statements about the assault. The victim was later transported to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with blunt force trauma and a fractured nose. Officers were unable to locate the defendant.
On December 26, 2023, Bryan Police Officers were again called to the residence by a third party, who reported that the same victim had been assaulted by Jones. When officers arrived, they heard male and female voices inside, but only the victim came outside to speak with them. The victim initially denied that any assault had occurred, but she allowed officers to come inside, where they ultimately located Jones hiding behind a shower curtain in the bathroom.
Officers again observed visible injuries to the victim’s body and ultimately arrested Jones for assault. After Jones was removed from the scene, the victim admitted that she had in fact been assaulted by Jones. She explained that she had been afraid that he would retaliate against her and kill her if he found out that she told them the truth. The victim later reported to the District Attorney’s Office that she had suffered from Jones’s abuse for years, which left her with vision problems, missing hair from it being pulled out, and missing teeth from being knocked out by Jones.
Jones had previously been twice convicted of assaulting a different woman, which resulted in him being sentenced to prison for domestic violence for 25 years. Jones had also previously been sentenced to prison for drug possession and burglary of a habitation. At the time of his arrest, Jones was still on parole.
