Texas A&M Softball’s Ford Selected to U.S. Women’s National Team Coaching Pool

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

OKLAHOMA CITY – Texas A&M head coach Trisha Ford has been selected to the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) coaching pool for the 2025-28 quad, USA Softball announced Monday afternoon.

“It’s an incredible honor to be selected for the USA Softball coaching pool for the next four years,” Ford said. “Representing our country at this level is something every coach aspires to. I’m especially proud to bring the spirit and work ethic of Texas A&M to the national stage. I’m looking forward to learning, growing and contributing alongside some of the best minds in the game.”

A 15-year veteran head coach, Ford has returned the Aggies to national prominence, as the program recently earned its first-ever No. 1 ranking in both the NFCA and ESPN polls on April 15. Since the inception of the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll in 2005, Ford is the second-fastest head coach to lead a new program to the top spot—accomplishing the feat in just 159 games. Texas A&M also became the first program in 79 polls to earn a No. 1 ranking outside of Oklahoma, Texas, or UCLA.

Ford recently led the Maroon & White to a second-place finish in the SEC regular season with a 16-7 record—the program’s highest finish in the league since joining in 2013. Coaching in the toughest softball conference in the nation, Ford has guided the Aggies to victories in 17 of 24 series during her first three seasons. Notably, the Aggies have finished at least four spots higher than their projected placement in the SEC coaches’ preseason poll in each of those seasons.

In 2024, she led the Aggies to a 44-15 record, while finishing the year 27-2 at Davis Diamond, the highest home winning percentage since 2011. Texas A&M earned the national No. 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament and hosted a regional and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional round for the first time since 2018.

Coaches chosen for the pool will assist in facilitating camps and training sessions throughout the 2025-2028 quad, including the LA28 Olympic Games. While selection to this pool guarantees support through 2028, the official Coaching Staff for upcoming international events will be announced prior to the event start. The upcoming 2025 season will include The World Games, slated for August 13-17, 2025, in Chengdu, China. The U.S. will compete alongside top opponents from across the world in hopes of claiming its fourth World Games gold medal. For more information on the World Games, click here.
