Construction began Monday (March 10) on the next portion of rebuilding Rock Prairie Road east of the freeway.

City of College Station communications director, Colin Killian, says the portion of Rock Prairie between Bird Pond and Town Lake will be closed for eight weeks.

The intersections at both locations will remain open.

The work on Rock Prairie from the freeway to Stonebrook Drive continues, with one lane open in each direction. That phase of the project will be completed in about three weeks.

The next phase of the project, approved by voters in November 2022, will start this summer with the closure of Rock Prairie between Town Lake and Dublin Parkway.
