HONOLULU – The Texas A&M women’s tennis team capped off the Weinman Foundation Invitational with a trio of doubles victories to push their overall record to 28-7 at the UH Tennis Complex this week.
“We are very happy with how our time went out here in Hawaii,” head coach Mark Weaver said. “We got a ton of good practices in and most importantly we were able to get a lot of matches in, which will give us a great jumpstart to the season.”
All American Nicole Khirin and freshman Lexington Reed claimed two wins on the day, picking up their first victory versus Hawaii’s Peppi Ramstedt/Sheena Masuda, 7-5. The pair would then face Hawaii’s Ana Vilcek/Nikola Homolkova, defeating them 6-2. Lucianna Perez/Daria Smetannikov grabbed the final win of the tournament for the Aggies after defeating Hawaii’s Joelle Lanz/Emma Forgac, 7-6(7).
The Maroon & White dropped only one game in singles action, going 19-1. Khirin and Kupres both secured their first ranked singles victories of the 2025 season and went a perfect 3-0 on the week along with Perez, Reed, Smetannikov and Mireles. In doubles, A&M was 9-6, with the duos of Perez/Reed and Khirin/Reed both going 2-0 in the tournament.
The Maroon & White host their first dual match of the season on Saturday, Jan. 18 versus Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m. at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
