News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team’s neutral site matchup with the Purdue Boilermakers tips off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 and will be televised by CBS, the Big Ten Conference announced.
The contest is the early game of a double-header in the Indy Classic at the home of the Indiana Pacers, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The second game, slated for a 1:30 p.m. tip, features Butler and Wisconsin. Tickets for the Indy Classic can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
The Aggies are coming off a 21-win season that saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while the Boilermakers rolled to a 34-5 record that included the Big Ten regular season championship and earned a spot in the NCAA Championship game.
Texas A&M and Purdue have met just four times previously with the Boilermakers leading the series, 3-1. Texas A&M’s lone victory was a 71-64 outcome in 2001 with Melvin Watkins’ Aggies taking down Gene Keady’s Boilermakers in the Las Vegas Classic. In the most recent meeting, Purdue, led by current Boiler head coach Matt Painter, defeated the Mark Turgeon-led Aggies, 63-61, in overtime in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament in Spokane, Washington.
