Texas A&M Cross Country Reveals 2024 Schedule

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M cross country team released its 2024 schedule, complete with four home meets, including two postseason competitions, at the Watts Cross Country Course.

The Maroon & White are coming off a historic 2023 season, as the women’s team qualified for the national championship meet for the first time in 23 years, while Eric Casarez represented the men’s squad at the event. Cross country coach Wendell McRaven’s squads’ performances were noticed, as he was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s South Central Region Women’s Coach of the Year.

“We’re really looking forward to this upcoming season,” McRaven said. “We will get a lot of opportunity to race at home in front of the 12thMan which is exciting, while also facing some great national level programs throughout the year and can’t wait to get started.”

The Aggies open their 2024 campaign at the Cowboy Preview at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Aug. 30.

The team returns home to host its first of four races, opening with the eighth-annual Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 13, where the men will run the 8k course while the women run a 5k.

Heading back on the road, the Maroon & White travel to the Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin at the Zimmer Championship Course on Sept. 27.

Closing out the regular season, the Aggies run on home soil at the seventh-annual Arturo Barrios Invitational on Oct. 18. The women will compete in the 6k race and the men will compete in the 8k race.

The Watts Cross Country Course will be the host of a pair of postseason races, including SEC Championships, Friday, Nov. 1, and the NCAA South Central Regional meet two weeks later (Nov. 15). The Regional meet will also see the men increase to the 10k distance, while the women maintain the 6k course.

A&M aims to cap off its season in a familiar environment, as the NCAA Championships will be held at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison on Nov. 23 where the Aggies are set to compete earlier in the season.
