TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Texas A&M head coach Jamie Morrison guided the United States women’s U19 national team to a gold-medal winning performance at the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Championships after downing Canada in the final, 3-1.
Team USA continued its dominance under Morrison’s leadership, as he claimed his third-straight U19 international title after winning the NORCECA Championships. The Red, White and Blue completed the tournament sweep, as the group won all five matches they played.
Morrison’s squad made its presence felt early in the group stage, securing three convincing wins versus Cuba, Canada and Puerto Rico to ensure its spot in the semifinals. The U.S. saw Puerto Rico again in the semi’s and continued to assert itself, once again winning in three to ensure its spot in the final.
With the championship on the line, Team USA was set to face Canada. Morrison and his group applied the pressure early, taking the opener 25-17. Canada answered in the second 25-20, however the Red, White and Blue responded in the third winning 26-24 and finally they closed the match and tournament out 25-14 to claim gold.
