The Bryan City Council approved the purchase of four new ambulances at this week’s council meeting.
Councilman Jared Salvato says the purchase was approved in the 2022 budget, but was delayed due to supply chain issues.
“They like to keep them at about 90,000 miles or less. Some of ours have upwards of 160,000 miles,” says Salvato.
The ambulances are two feet longer, allowing equipment to be more efficiently stored.
The total cost of the new, fully equipped ambulances is $1,713,174.72.
Salvato hopes to replace the old ambulances by the end of the year.
