The last meeting of the Bryan ISD school board’s safety and security committee addressed a new concern.
Board member Mark McCall said the bulk of the meeting was discussing the impact of delivery drivers on campus security.
McCall said 30 to 45 food deliveries are made each lunch period at BISD campuses, along with deliveries from pharmacies and other businesses.
McCall says staff time is being taken to supervise the deliveries and monitor the additional vehicular traffic.
While acknowledging that issue, BISD board president Julie Harlin noted they are ahead of many districts around the state that are still dealing with adding security vestibules and other major investments to comply with new state laws.
