Bryan police get judges to increase bond for suspected DWI drivers with three and four prior convictions.
A 66 year old Bryan man convicted four times of drunk driving was arrested Saturday night for DWI, aggravated assault of a family member with a deadly weapon, making a terroristic threat to a family member, two weapons charges, and evading and resisting arrest. Four Bryan police officers responded to a disturbance Saturday night in a neighborhood east of Kemp elementary school. Nathaniel Phillips was arrested following a chase that ended when his SUV struck a tree near Neal elementary school. Phillips, who was booked for the 27th time in 33 years, is held in lieu of bonds totaling $110,000 dollars. That’s after the arresting officer told the judge that Phillips spent 300 days in jail serving three of the DWI convictions at the same time.
Bryan police got a judge to increase bond for a College Station man arrested for drunk driving with three prior convictions. 42 year old Anthony McGuire was arrested after his car struck a railroad crossing sign Saturday during the midnight hour south of downtown at 32nd and Main. According to the BPD arrest report, the arresting officer wrote in his request to the judge that the longest McGuire spent in jail in his previous DWI convictions was 250 days, and that was when he was serving two convictions at the same time. McGuire, who was booked for the 41st time in 25 years, is held in lieu of bonds totaling $50,000 dollars.
