In March of 2020, the National Archives and Records Administration directed all presidential libraries to close due to the pandemic.
Four locations have reopened, but Warren Finch, Director of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, says they have not been given the green light to reopen.
“The number of COVID cases have been a little lower in some of the counties where other presidential libraries are,” says Finch.
Finch is optimistic that they will reopen in less than a month.
“From my personal standpoint, we are ready to get the building open and have the public back in,” says Finch.
When the museum does reopen, Finch says a new exhibit will be on display celebrating the 50th anniversary of Texas A&M Galveston’s sea grant.
The library grounds, including the Bush family gravesite, are open to the public during daylight hours.
