Two Texas Soldiers Among Four Killed

WASHINGTON (AP) _ The Pentagon has released the identities of four soldiers, including two Texans, who were killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

The four died Monday in Wardak province, southwest of the Afghan capital Kabul. A Defense Department statement issued Wednesday says a roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle the four were riding. Then, the four came under enemy fire with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms.

The four are identified as 24-year-old Sgt. Gregory Owens Jr. of Garland; 20-year-old Spc. Anthony M. Lightfoot of Riverdale, Ga.; 21-year-old Spc. Andrew J. Roughton of Houston; and 34-year-old Pfc. Dennis J. Pratt of Duncan, Okla.

All were assigned to the 4th Battalion, 25th “Strike” Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th “Mountain” Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.
