Tennessee fires Pruitt after three seasons

Tennessee has fired head football coach Jeremy Pruitt after three seasons in Knoxville.

The university relieved Pruitt of his duties amid an internal investigation into allegations of recruiting violations dating back to November.

A former defensive coordinator at Alabama, Pruitt led the Volunteers to just a 5-7 record in his first season, but bounced back with an 8-5 campaign and a Gator Bowl win in 2019.

However, his squad limped to a 3-7 mark in a COVID shortened year, wrapping up their SEC-only schedule with a 34-13 home loss to then No. 5 Texas A&M.
