A College Station police officer witnessing a driver running a red light Monday night results in the driver going to jail on drug and weapons charges.
According to the CSPD arrest report, after the officer saw the traffic infraction at Harvey Mitchell and Rio Grande, the officer learned the car’s registration expired last December, or before the start of the pandemic.
After the car stopped on Texas Avenue in front of Walmart, the officer smelled marijuana.
The driver got out of the car as directed, then the officer saw a bulge in the driver’s pants. That turned out to be a plastic baggie that contained more than 70 pieces of crack cocaine and some marijuana.
That led to a search of the car, where officers found an undisclosed amount of cash bundled in stacks of 100’s, 50’s, 20’s, fives, and one dollar bills.
The driver, 28 year old Kevin Jefferson Jr. of College Station, is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $31,000 dollars.
