Bryan School Board Approves Building A Press Box To Replace A Duck Blind Structure At Rudder High School

Rudder high school, in its 13th year of existence, is replacing a deer blind with a press box at its football field.

The Bryan school board approved at its last meeting the request from the district’s athletic director. Janice Williamson says the structure will be large enough to store the track team’s pole vault and high jump pits, which until now had no indoor storage.

The football field is home to Rudder’s sub-varsity football, varsity soccer, and varsity track.

Because the press box design is the same as Rudder’s softball and baseball fields, which Williamson described as “no frills”, architecture fees are less.

The design and construction will be paid by left over money from a Bryan ISD bond issue approved by voters in 2005.
