No one was injured in a fire that destroyed nine apartment units in Bryan on Sunday morning.
Assistant Chief Joe Ondrasek says crews were dispatched at 1:25 a.m. and the first unit arrived at the Oaks of Villa Maria on West Villa Maria Road six minutes later.
Firefighters found fire coming through the roof of the building. Initial efforts to quickly knock the fire down were unsuccessful and firefighters worked to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other buildings.
With assistance from the College Station and county fire departments, it took an hour and fifteen minutes to get the fire under control.
Ondrasek says the cause of the fire is still under investigation and Red Cross is on scene to assist residents who were displaced.
