Four Men Arrested On Gambling Charges Following A Search Of A West Bryan Home

Four men were arrested by Bryan police Thursday on gambling charges from an undercover investigation that started in September.

Information from a confidential informant led to officers watching the activities outside a house located near the intersection of Highway 21 and MLK.

Officers observed between five and 20 vehicles parked outside the home, with drivers and passengers spending between 30 to 90 minutes inside.

The arrest report also noted on one night officers seeing more than 30 vehicles come and go during a five hour period.

Two days before the arrests, another officer made a traffic stop on one of the suspects for not signaling a lane change. After the driver gave permission to search his vehicle, the officer saw computer equipment used in video gambling machines.

The next day, BPD received a search warrant, and the day after that, the search of the home led to the discovery of 16 video slot machines.

Officers interviewed two customers who were inside but did not arrest them.

Arrested on charges of possessing gambling equipment, promotion of gambling, and engaging in organized criminal activity were two Bryan men, 49 year old Christopher Hartfield and 46 year old Ronald Dunn, and two brothers from Arlington, 59 year old Dung Van Phan and 33 year old Khanh Duy Nguyen.

Nguyen was also charged with possessing 4.1 grams of methamphetamine.
