An Indiana based company that tests building materials for the construction industry chose Bryan to make its first expansion.
A ceremonial groundbreaking took place Tuesday at NTA Incorporated’s 90 acre facility on the city’s far north side.
President David Tompos says many of the 50 to 60 new jobs are engineering related positions.
Weather permitting, construction is expected to be completed in October on a large testing lab, a training facility, and administrative offices.
NTA was recently acquired by the non profit International Code Council (ICC), which develops worldwide codes and standards for the construction industry.
ICC CEO Dominic Sims compared NTA’s new relationships in Bryan/College Station with ICC’s new business relationship with NTA. Sims said “In making ICC’s decision to invest in NTA, it was because of decisions they (NTA) made like this. To me, that spoke volumes.”
Speakers also included the board chairman of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation (BVEDC) Bobby Gutierrez, BVEDC CEO Matt Prochaska, Bryan/College Station chamber of commerce community liaison Royce Hickman, and Bryan city councilman Prentiss Madison.
