ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – The Texas Rangers have activated Hunter Pence from the
injured list after he missed 23 games and his chance to start in the All-Star
Game. Pence had been out since June 17 with a right groin strain. He was
activated before Texas’ game against Arizona and was in the starting lineup as
the designated hitter. The Rangers optioned outfielder Willie Calhoun to
Triple-A Nashville. Pence was voted by fans as the AL’s starting DH for the
All-Star Game. He missed that game because of the injury.
