College Station School Board Adds More Administrative And Facilities Employees For Next Year

College Station school board members at its last meeting added two more administrative and an undetermined number of facilities employees for next year.

The creation of a fine arts director, a social studies coordinator, and positions related to janitorial and grounds duties, followed prior approval of 17 other positions.

The total cost of the more than 20 new positions is almost $1.6 million dollars.

Board president Jeff Harris was the first to support the often discussed administrative positions.

Superintendent Clark Ealy said there was still time to recruit potential candidates who could start in time for the upcoming school year.

Board member Geralyn Nolan was among those supporting additional facilities employees.

The board previously approved adding five special education teachers, 3.2 special education administrative/professional positions, three general education teachers, two full day pre-kindergarten teachers, two full day pre-K aides, one bilingual teacher, and a parking lot attendant at College Station High School.
