Passengers on American Airlines flights in and out of Easterwood Airport were and are still impacted by a combination of severe weather and the lack of full size jets.
American canceled an additional 200 flights Monday afternoon. That’s after the online site flight aware dot com reported more than 500 flights were grounded on Sunday.
Additionally, American pushed back the planned return of its Boeing 737 Max jets another two weeks. The delay is until September third, or after Boeing gets federal approval to fly the jets following two crashes. That means American continues to cancel about 115 flights a day.

DALLAS (AP) — American Airlines has canceled more than 200 additional flights at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as the region recovers from a powerful weekend storm.
A spokesman for Fort Worth-based American said Monday that the cancellations were the result of Sunday’s storm, which brought heavy rain, high winds and widespread power outages.
According to FlightAware.com, more than 220 flights had been canceled by late morning at DFW, where American is the dominant airline. More than 500 DFW flights were canceled Sunday.
At nearby Dallas Love Field, a spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines said the storm’s aftermath led to some delays Monday, but that operations were back to normal by late morning.
Sunday’s violent weather in Dallas caused a crane to collapse onto an apartment building, leaving a woman dead and several people hurt.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — American Airlines is pushing back the planned return of its Boeing 737 Max jets until early September, two weeks longer than the airline had previously expected.
American over the weekend removed its 24 Max jets from the flight schedule through Sept. 3.
The plane has been grounded around the world since mid-March, after the second of two crashes that killed a combined 346 people in Indonesia and Ethiopia.
Boeing is updating anti-stall software implicated in the crashes. The aircraft maker hopes to conduct a test flight in the coming weeks to demonstrate the changes for the Federal Aviation Administration.
American is canceling about 115 flights a day because of the grounding of its Max jets.
Southwest and United have dropped their Max jets from schedules into early August.
