Governor Abbott Says He’s Working On Extending The Life Of The Plumbers Examiners Board

Governor Abbott went to Twitter Tuesday to tell plumbers he can keep the state board of plumbing examiners in existence without needing to call a special session of the legislature.

Quoting the governor’s tweet: “TEXAS PLUMBERS: We’ve got this. The Legislature has given the Governor many tools in my toolbox to extend the State Board of Plumbing Examiners for two years without needing to call a special session. We will let you know very soon. Don’t worry.”

As of Tuesday at 6 p.m., an online petition at change.org titled “Save The Texas State Board Of Plumbing Examiners” has more than 77,000 signatures.

The Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association of Texas Facebook page issued the following post after the governor’s tweet: “Abbott declares he can extend the plumbing board without a special session – He promises details are coming soon! Don’t back down yet, keep working the phones until it’s a done deal!”
